H.E.Mr. Ahmed Ali Sirohey, Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Niger called on Minister of National Defense, Mr. Alkassoum Indattou.

The Minister of Defense very warmly received the Pakistani envoy in his office.

During the call, they discussed cordial relations between the two brotherly countries including Defense and security, especially regional security. The Ambassador of Pakistan appreciated the efforts and sacrifices of the Nigerien Armed forces in eradicating terrorism in the Sahel region. They also discussed the feasibility of a Pakistani military delegation visit to Niger and the Niger military delegation’s visit to Pakistan.

In order to strengthen Nigerien armed forces, They also discussed the possibility of the creation of a Regional Centre of Excellence for counter-terrorist training and capacity building of Nigerien Armed Forces in Niger. This centre will provide high-level training, which will help in reinforcing the security systems.

Minister Alkassoum Indattou gave the priority to Air Force, mentioning that he has a project of training one hundred pilots, and he would like assistance from the Government of Pakistan.

Minister mentioned another point concerning a need for military intelligence training. He also expressed the wish for a collaboration with Pakistan to open a Textile factory in Niger to manufacture military clothing and outfits.

Ambassador assured his full cooperation and his continued support.
