on “Transboundary Diseases of Animal and Public Health” on March 1 and 2, 2023 at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University of Veterinary Science. and Animal Science (New Campus) was held.
Speaking at the conference, Prof. Dr. Farooq Hasan said that in a short period of time, two international conferences were organized in which the important issues facing the world at that time were discussed. Entering where the world is facing a gas shortage, the tension can be reduced by finding new ways of development through these conferences.
It is a very difficult responsibility to carry out, but it has been our effort to provide the best facilities using our limited resources and this conference is also a link in this chain. He would like to thank the Sindh Higher Education Commission and Science Foundation. Huynh said that without your cooperation, it would not have been possible to organize this conference.
Chairman of the conference organizing committee and dean Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University of Veterinary and Animal Science Prof. Dr. Zahid Iqbal Rajput congratulated all the local and international scholars, and guests and Thanks to the participants He said that without your participation, this great conference would have not have been possible.
At the conference, local and international researchers presented their comprehensive papers on various topics in which by following the suggestions given by the researchers, other countries of the region, including Pakistan, can achieve far-reaching results in the field of veterinary medicine.
Researchers have said in their address that human health is connected with the health of animals, if the animals are healthy, then humans can have a good life. Therefore, we need to adapt the veterinary field to modern requirements and create a new generation of veterinary medicine. There is a need to provide better education.
Among the researchers who addressed the two-day conference are Professor Dr. Andrew McCabe of the United States, Professor Dr. Tahira Mohammad Abidi of Iran, Professor Dr. Ahmed Abedin of Masdar, Professor Dr. Renee Vidyasutti of Bangladesh, Professor Dr. Jahan. Ara Begum, former dean of the University of Dikarmabad Prof. Dr. Ahrar Khan, the University of Agriculture Faisalabad Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kashif Salimi, DG Sindh Institute of Animal Health and Livestock Prof. Dr. Nazir Hussain Kalhoro, Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Science Dr. Amjad Islam Aqib from Bahalpur, Professor Dr. Kirk Hazlitt, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University of Veterinary and Animal Science Professor Dr. Abdullah Arijo, Royal Veterinary College London Dr. Neil Moss, the University of Agriculture Faisalabad Professor Dr. Rao Zahid Abbas and others were involved.
The researchers have further said that if animal disease is not controlled immediately, it becomes an epidemic which can spread from one country to another and cause a major human tragedy.
51% of the world’s population died in the Black Death, compared to this, 0.04% of the world’s population died in the recent Corona epidemic, which is much less than the Black Death. This is possible thanks to science. But the world needs to understand that the new Pandemic is on its way and no one knows how much it will harm the world. Till 2016, Pakistan, India and China were free from Lumpy Skin Disease, till 2021 Pakistan was also free from this disease but after that Lumpy Skin has completely spread. Apart from human health, this disease that gripped the region also had dangerous economic effects.
Lumpy skin has reduced animal reproduction, reduced milk production, and reduced meat consumption by people, which are factors that directly harm cattle farmers. Researchers told conference participants. told that the immediate diagnosis of the disease found in the animal cannot be done because there is a lack of specialization in certain fields, and the connections with the relevant institutions are not good, however, the farmers need to be trusted and their views are heard. The disease detected should be reported immediately and the reporter should be encouraged to take immediate steps to prevent the disease from spreading to other animals.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Abdul Aleem Lashari attended the inaugural session of the conference as a special guest and said in his address that science is not confined to any religion, language or race, science is for the welfare of mankind.
