Shawaal Zulfiqar will be sidelined from competitive cricket for six weeks due to a right shoulder injury sustained while fielding in the second T20I against New Zealand women at the University of Otago Oval in Dunedin on Tuesday, December 5.

Following the incident, she was promptly taken to the hospital, where X-rays of her injured shoulder revealed an AC joint sprain. Subsequent ultrasound results showed no signs of a muscular tear.

The decision regarding Shawaal’s return to action will be determined in due course. In the meantime, the team physiotherapist will continue to monitor her condition closely.

The opening batter was on song in the first T20 as she scored 41 runs and was the highest run getter from her side on that day.

Pakistan would be hoping that Shawwal make a strong comeback to the competitive cricket as soon as possible as the women in green still have a plenty of cricket left to play.
