FAISALABAD – In a tightly contested match, Sialkot PD edged past Faisalabad PD by 7 runs in the 5th fixture of the Shahid Afridi Foundation (SAF) National Physical Disability T20 Cricket Championship (Grade 2). The exciting encounter took place at the Saeed Ajmal International Cricket Academy Ground in Faisalabad.
Sialkot Sets Competitive Total
Batting first, Sialkot PD posted 145 runs, getting bowled out with two deliveries to spare. Abdul Salam led the charge, scoring 55 off 42 balls, featuring five boundaries and three sixes. He was well-supported by Najam (27 runs) and Mohammad Shahid (19 runs).
Faisalabad’s bowling attack showed discipline. Muhammad Khurram stood out, taking 3 wickets for just 13 runs. Muhammad Asad matched his effort with 3 wickets for 22, while Abdullah picked up 2 wickets, restricting Sialkot from a bigger total.
Faisalabad Falls Short in Chase
In reply, Faisalabad PD managed 138 runs in 20 overs, falling short by a narrow margin. Adnan fought hard, scoring 47 off 44 balls, including three boundaries and two sixes. However, he received little support apart from Aamir’s 17 runs.
Sialkot’s bowlers delivered under pressure. Mohammad Shahid impressed with 3 wickets for 13 runs, while Abdul Salam and Najam grabbed 2 wickets each, tightening the chase and sealing the win.
Post-Match Recognition
During the post-match ceremony, Sabir Hussain, former captain of the Faisalabad region and director of the Saeed Ajmal Cricket Academy, presented the Player of the Match award to Abdul Salam for his brilliant all-round performance.
The event was also attended by Javed Ashraf, Regional Head of Lahore and Sialkot, and Wasifur Rehman, Regional Head Faisalabad. Both praised the teams for their competitive spirit and highlighted the importance of inclusive sports development.
