Abdul Basit Leads Rawalpindi PD to Second Consecutive Victory in National Physical Disability T20 Cricket Championship (Grade 2).

Rawalpindi PD Defeats KPK Stars by 19 Runs in Thrilling Match

Karachi/Rawalpindi (Sports Reporter) – Rawalpindi Physical Disability Team secured their second consecutive win in the Shahid Afridi Foundation National Physical Disability T20 Cricket Championship (Grade 2) by defeating KPK Stars by 19 runs. The match, held at the Army Cricket Ground in Rawalpindi, saw Abdul Basit’s outstanding bowling performance, which earned him the Player of the Match award after he took 4 crucial wickets.

Batting first, Rawalpindi PD was bowled out for 127 runs with three balls remaining in their 20-over innings. Muhammad Tahir led the charge with a solid 39 runs off 32 balls, smashing 5 boundaries and 2 sixes. Kashif Javed contributed 22 runs, hitting 4 boundaries, while Huzaifa added 14 runs. KPK Stars’ bowlers, led by Arbab Shakir, who took 3 wickets for 28 runs, kept Rawalpindi’s total in check. Israr and Asad Shinwari also made significant contributions, claiming 2 wickets each.

In reply, KPK Stars PD struggled to chase the target of 128 runs, collapsing for 108 runs in 17 overs. Despite Ishaq Ahmed’s valiant knock of 49 runs from 32 balls, which included 3 boundaries and 5 sixes, and Shakeel Afridi’s 30 runs off 33 balls with 4 boundaries and 2 sixes, KPK Stars fell short. Rawalpindi’s left-arm spinner Abdul Basit proved to be the game-changer, taking 4 wickets for 30 runs, while Bilal Azim provided crucial support with 2 wickets for just 13 runs.

At the post-match ceremony, Hafiz Asad Mehmood, Head Coach of the Pakistan Army Cricket Team, presented Abdul Basit with the Player of the Match award for his brilliant bowling display. Syed Rafi Hashmi, Regional Head of Rawalpindi, international PD fast bowler and KPK Stars captain Sher Ali Afridi, and Syed Ali Shah Hamdani were also in attendance, applauding the competitive spirit of both teams.

Rawalpindi PD’s win strengthens their position in the Shahid Afridi Foundation National Physical Disability T20 Cricket Championship (Grade 2) as they continue their impressive run in the tournament.
