The Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s (FPCCI) Women’s Style, Beauty & Skincare Central Committee convened on May 13, 2024, at the FPCCI Head Office in Karachi. Chaired by the Committee’s Convener, Ms. Zehra Zahid, and graced by the presence of FPCCI Vice President Asim Paracha, the meeting saw the participation of esteemed guests, including Dr. Nosheen Shahzad and Mr. Shafiq Achakzai, who shared invaluable insights.
The gathering delved into pressing issues affecting the beauty and style industry amid the current socio-economic landscape. Central to the discussions were concerns regarding the competitiveness of local products vis-à-vis the international market and impediments to industry development.
Addressing the attendees, Ms. Zehra Zahid emphasized the importance of ensuring that local products meet global standards to instill buyer confidence. The Committee’s official members for the current year were announced, comprising a diverse array of professionals committed to advancing the industry’s interests.
Notable figures present included Mrs. Maimoona Khurram, Mrs. Aiman Afaque, H.H Miran Haider, Adv. Ahmad Kamal, Mr. Faysal Rehmani, Ms. Quratalain, Muzammil Malik, Ms. Humaira Jabbar, Mr. Junaid Ahmed, Ms. Tamkeen Zaib, Mr. Ahmed Rizwan Cheema, and Ms. Shehla Khowaja. Mrs. Nighat Mehmood, recognized for her exemplary service in the previous term, was nominated once again as Deputy Convener.
The meeting also welcomed esteemed guests such as Dr. Tasneem Kausar (President, Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry Korangi), Ms. Rabia Nasir (SVP, Korangi Chamber), Ms. Shamsa J Ahmed (Deputy Convener, FPCCI), Mr. Saeed Ahmed Saeed (Producer Director), Shaikh Khurram, Mr. Munir Patel, and Ms. Kanwal Zehra, whose contributions were highly appreciated.
The FPCCI Women’s Style, Beauty & Skincare Committee has a history of championing crucial issues within the industry. Past initiatives have included seminars addressing carcinogenic ingredients in skincare and the implementation of hygienic practices in salons and parlors during the COVID-19 pandemic, earning recognition from authorities.
Looking ahead, the Committee plans to organize a seminar focusing on “Promoting Women Entrepreneurs in the Beauty/Clothing Industry,” with various strategies under discussion. Ms. Zehra Zahid and Deputy Convener Nighat Mehmood expressed their commitment to executing action plans effectively, building on the successes of previous years under Ms. Zahid’s leadership since 2020.
