Hyundai Motor and Škoda Group Partner to Drive Hydrogen Mobility and Energy-Efficient Solutions.

Dubai, September 28, 2024 – In a significant move towards sustainable mobility, Hyundai Motor Company and Škoda Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on advancing hydrogen technology and energy-efficient solutions. The partnership was formalized during the Korea-Czech Republic Business Summit in Prague, attended by Ken Ramírez, Executive Vice President of Hyundai Motor Company, and Petr Novotný, CEO of Škoda Group.

The MOU marks a key milestone in the development of a hydrogen-based economy, with both companies set to explore hydrogen fuel cell systems, energy-efficient mobility solutions, and hydrogen ecosystem opportunities beyond the automotive sector.

“We believe that hydrogen will play an essential role in transforming global mobility into a more sustainable future,” said Petr Novotný, CEO of Škoda Group. “This collaboration with Hyundai allows us to explore wider markets and develop eco-friendly solutions that can have a lasting impact.”

Hydrogen as a Pillar for a Sustainable Future: Both Hyundai and Škoda share a common vision of hydrogen as a cornerstone of the future energy landscape. Under the agreement, Hyundai will explore sharing its cutting-edge fuel cell technology, which has the potential to revolutionize eco-friendly mobility across markets where Škoda operates, including the Czech Republic.

“Partnering with Škoda Group allows us to accelerate the adoption of hydrogen technologies, helping to achieve carbon neutrality across global markets,” said Ken Ramírez of Hyundai. “Together, we will create synergies between our advanced fuel cell systems and Škoda’s innovative mobility projects.”

Beyond Mobility: Expanding Hydrogen Applications: The scope of the collaboration extends beyond mobility. Hyundai and Škoda will conduct feasibility studies to apply hydrogen fuel cell systems to broader energy solutions, leveraging Hyundai’s extensive experience in hydrogen applications across both the mobility and energy sectors.

Hyundai Motor Group, through its hydrogen business brand HTWO, is committed to leading the global transition to a hydrogen society. The company’s Nošovice manufacturing plant in the Czech Republic, one of the most advanced facilities in Europe, will play a pivotal role in supporting the development and production of eco-friendly vehicles powered by hydrogen.

This partnership represents a forward-thinking step in realizing the potential of hydrogen as a sustainable energy source, setting the stage for a greener and more energy-efficient future in the global mobility ecosystem.
