Karachi, June 5, 2024 — On the occasion of World Environment Day, Nizami Organization, Thara Organization, and Womenpreneur Pakistan Organization held a conference to honor individuals for their dedication to environmental sustainability and humanitarian efforts. The event took place at the Art Council in Karachi, Pakistan, and was attended by distinguished guests, including Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori and Council General of Turkiya in Karachi, Cemal Sangu.
The conference, led by Dr. Syed Mahboob Hassan Nizami, Chairman of Nizami Organization; Amir Thara, President of Thara Organization; and Ms. Irum Fawad, President of Womenpreneur Pakistan Organization, highlighted the significant contributions of various individuals and organizations towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined by the United Nations for 2030.
Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori emphasized the urgent need for environmental change initiatives by the government. He praised the collaborative efforts of the organizations in promoting sustainability and working towards the SDGs. Governor Tessori also stressed the importance of dedicated efforts in education, women empowerment, health, decent work opportunities, and environmental health, particularly in Karachi.
“The hard work and dedication of these organizations are crucial for achieving our goals, even with limited resources,” said Governor Tessori. “We must continue to focus on these areas to ensure a better future for our country.”
Council General of Turkiya, Cemal Sangu, the guest of honor, underscored the global importance of climate change. He advocated for a collective approach to environmental preservation, emphasizing that “together we can” make a significant impact. He also highlighted the strengthening of bilateral ties between Turkiya and Pakistan, particularly in trade, education, and health. Sangu’s efforts to empower women through educational programs and his government’s commitment to “train the trainer” initiatives were particularly noted.
“Pakistan is a brotherly country, and we Turks are proud of our strong relationship,” said Sangu. “I congratulate the entire team of organizations and commend the individuals recognized today for their outstanding contributions.”
Several guest speakers enriched the event with their insights on the importance of SDGs. These included Irfan Padaise, CEO of WaterFront; Imran Khan Tessori, Managing Director of Tessori Groups Pvt Limited; Amir Thara, President of Thara Organization; Sajid Hasan, writer, analyst, social worker, and senior TV artist; Khursheed Haider of Hum Networks; Ms. Irum Fawad, Master Trainer of SDGs PK; and Syed Najamul Hassan Nizami, President of Nizami Organization.
The ceremony also featured the presentation of yearly performance certificates to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to their work. The event concluded with a message of gratitude to all media and print partners who contributed to the success of the event.
“May God give us the strength to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals Agenda UN 2030 for our country,” remarked Ms. Irum Fawad, reflecting the collective hope and determination of all attendees.
