The UAE has changed the fines for people overstaying their visas in the country. Anybody who overstays the duration of a residency visa will now pay double the previous fee. Every day a person overstays a UAE residency visa they will be required to pay an AED50 charge, where it had previously been AED25. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security has also amended the size of the fine for tourist and visit visa holders. This fine has been reduced from AED100 a day to AED50.

The move standardises the fee for people overstaying their visas in Dubai. Previously, the penalty was calculated depending on the kind of visa, but now visitors and residents will pay the same penalty. The changes to UAE visa fines came following new entry and residence visa rules were introduced on October 3.
Typing centres and agents in the country have been informed of the changes and are applying the new rules.
