WESTERN PROVINCE CRICKET ASSOCIATION: AFTERNOON WEEK 8 REPORT

JEDDAH: Matches played in the Afternoon Session here at WPCA Ground after the long vacation of Eid ul Adha Timex Lothers had the last laugh against Zultec by just 3 runs, Hyderabad Sharks downed IDB Group, Tuskers thrashed Nesma Airlines by 68 runs, Abudawood Trading declared the winner against Al Samer Group on Walkover basis, while in the Afternoon Blue Group Al Hamrani prevailed over FRC Planet Technology, Al Kabbani Cricket Group went down to KKR and Stallions had the upper hand against Karachi Warriors here in the Week 8 encounters played at WPCA Waziriyah Grounds.

Match # 23: Al Kabbani Cricket Group decided to bat first against KKR to be bowled out for 133 within the allotted 18 overs. Imran Qaiser was the top scorer with 47 in 25 balls with 8 hits to the fence while Saeed Iqbal hit 26 and Mohammed Nasir 13. Harris is the pick of the Bowlers from KKR with 4 wkts for 19 as Jalil and Shabbir shared 2 scalps each.

KKR chasing reached the victory target of 134 for 4 in 90 balls to win by 6 wkts with 18 balls to remain. Shafeer played a scintillating inning of unbeaten 57 in 42 balls with the help of 6 fours and a six as he first added 66 in 41 balls for the 2nd wkt with Kabeer who made 35 in 20 balls with 2 sixes and 3 fours and later 49 for the 4th wkt with Najoum (19) to win this match on ground # 1 quite comfortably. Imran Qaiser took 2 wkts.

Match # 24: Stallions opted to use the track first against the depleted side of Karachi Warriors with just 7 nominated Players, racked up 171 in allotted 18 overs on Ground # 2. Aqeel Malik coming 2 down hit 32 in 15 balls with 5 hits to the fence as he added 60 runs for the 4th wkt with Jahanzeb who also made 32 in 20 deliveries after they were reduced to 43 for 3 in the 4th over with Abdulrehman making 22 and Hassan Ali 6. Later Faiz made 23, Sohail Bajwa 14 and Aftab 12. Adnan Sialkoti grabbed 3 for 30 as Imran Sarwar, Kashid and Adnan Sarghoda had 2 each.

Karachi Warriors in response were restricted to 119 for 5 in stipulated 18 overs to lose by 52 runs. Naser scored 22, Ali remained unbeaten on 30 off 30 balls with 3 fours and a six, Imran Sarwar 21 and Adnan Sialkot 14.

Match # 25: Al Hamrani Fuchs opting to bat first after winning the toss amassed 210 for 6 in allotted 18 overs against FRC Planet Technology on ground # 4 through Ali Raza batted magnificently well for his 13 fours and 5 sixes to compile 111 in 57 balls as his first fifty came in 30 balls and his hundred in 52 balls and he stitched 141 runs in just 74 balls for the opening stand with Zeeshan who hit 59 in 33 balls studded with six and 7 fours to give a solid start to their innings. Nadeem contributed 17 and Shahid 12. Ajesh Suman of FRC Planet Technology bowled well among the run spree to take 5 wkts for 29 in his 3 overs including a Hat trick in his 3rd and last over on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th ball.

FRC Planet Technology in reply to this huge target was bundled out for 102 to lose the match by big 109 runs. Jamsher stroked 23 in 18 balls and Sudhesh 10 were the only ones to cross the ten-digit mark. Khalid Waseem bowled well for his 3 for 16 in his 4 overs and Haroon 2. Zeeshan had 5 victims behind the stumps.

Match # 26: Hyderabad Sharks chose to bat first after winning the toss to rack up 202 for 6 in allotted 18 overs on ground # 5 against IDB Group. Mohammed Shehzad hit 39 in 27 balls with 2 sixes and 3 fours as he first added 37 with Mohammed Ilyas (23) and then 59 in 33 balls for the 2nd wkt with Sada Hussain who made 27 in 20 balls with six and 2 fours. Atif Gill then took over the charge to smash 67 in 28 balls studded with 5 sixes and 3 fours to add 66 in 32 balls for the 4th wkt with Umer Farooq (12). Mohammed Usman made 13. Waqas Butt took 2 wkts.

IDB Group in response was stranded at 168 for 8 in stipulated 18 overs to lose by 34 runs. Javed Iqbal stood in the middle to hit 68 with 2 sixes and 7 fours as Mazhar made 32 with six and 5 fours. Nasir contributed 21 and Yasir 11. Umar had 2 wkts.

Match # 27: Timex Lothers won the toss to bat first to get to 169 for 8 in the allotted 18 overs against Zultec on Ground # 8. Waqas slammed 59 in 36 balls with six and 8 fours as he first added 45 for the first wkt with Ibrar ul Haq who made 25 in 12 balls with 2 sixes and 3 fours and then 51 in 42 balls for the 3rd wkt with Khurram Aziz who made 21. Abdulwahid scored 23 in 13 balls with 3 fours and a six. Samiullah was run out for 19 and Khalid 11. Two sclp each was taken by Abu Huraira, Zakaullah and Usman Gulab.

Zultec responded with 166 for 5 to lose by mere 3 runs at the end. Shahbaz Rasheed who made the top scored for his team with 69 in 37 balls studded with 2 sixes and 9 fours as before he ran out added almost a match-winning 85 in 55 balls for the 4th wkt with Abdullah Essa who hit 37 in 30 balls with six and 3 fours before he was retired hurt. Earlier Zultec lost the top order for 62 for 3 by the 7th over with Waqar ul Hasan making 11, Amir Sajjad 20 and Khawar 8. Abu Huraira remained unbeaten on 11. Zultec requiring 25 runs in the last 18 balls scored 6 runs in the 16th over, 7 runs in the 17th over and then required 12 runs in the last over could make 8 runs to lose by 3 runs at the end. Samiullah and Ibrar Ul Haq claimed 2 wkts each.

Match # 28: Tuskers opting to bat first against Nesma Airlines on Ground # 9 plundered 209 for 3 in allotted 18 overs. Haroon coming at #4 smashed an unbeaten 69 in 31 balls with the help of 3 sixes and 9 fours as he added fantastic 135 runs in 58 balls for the unbroken 4th wkt with Shibu who top scored with an unbeaten 74 in 33 balls with 5 maximums and 6 fours to get to big 209 for 3 in 108 balls. Earlier Badushsh made 22, Shebu 10 and Yashiki 11. Hafiz Jafar had 2 wkts.

Nesma Airlines playing with 9 players could reply with 141 for 6 in stipulated 18 overs to lose by 68 runs. Rana Adnan hit 56 in 25 balls with 5 sixes and 4 fours as he added 57 runs in 28 balls for the 2nd wkt with Azhar (12) after Saidullah departed on the 5th ball of the innings. Hafiz Jafar then made 30 in 28 balls and Umar 13 not out. Zubair and Ashfaque took 2 wkts each.

Match # 29: In the last match of the day Al Samer Group did not report at the Ground against Abudawood Trading and thus the match was awarded to Abudawood Trading on a Walkover basis by the official Umpires.
