Renowned intellectual, writer, columnist and former Saudi diplomat, and strong advocate of Stranded Pakistanis Dr. Ali Al-Ghamdi received today PRC delegation headed by Hamid Islam Khan, deputy convener, and member of Friend for Humanity America, at his residence in Jeddah on Wednesday.
Hamid ul Islam Khan is visiting Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah and visit Prophet (PBUH) Mosque Madinah Munawwarah.
During the meeting, Hamid ul Islam Khan also conveyed a message of goodwill from Ehtisham Arshad Nizami, Chairman, and Friend for Humanity America and Engineer Syed Ehsanul Haque Convener, Pakistan Repatriation Council (PRC). Dr. Al-Ghamdi praised the efforts exerted by them in the repatriation and rehabilitation of stranded Pakistanis living in miserable conditions in the camps since the fall of Dhaka in 1971. He also highlighted the work done for the plight and welfare of those Pakistanis in Bangladeshi camps.
Dr. Ali Al Ghamdi regretted and said that Pakistanis sacrificed everything for Pakistan and the government not doing anything to alleviate their miseries. It is the responsibility of the Government of Pakistan to initiate dialogue with the Government of Bangladesh for the rehabilitation of those quarter million human beings. Bangladesh should facilitate all rights and privileges to those who like you settle there and Pakistan should repatriate and settle in Pakistan whose option didn’t change those. He praised those who are struggling to create awareness at the national level for this cause.
The delegation included Engineer Syed Naseeruddin, Engineer Khalid Javed and Syed Mussarat Khalil. The members also inquired about Dr. Al-Ghamdi’s well-being, assessed his mood and presented a bouquet of flowers.
