DW hosted Global Media Forum in Bonn; Pakistani journalists attended the forum

Bonn: Germany’s international broadcaster, Deutsche Welle (DW), hosted the Global Media Forum 2022 on June 20 and 21, 2022 in Bonn, Germany which was attended by journalists, bloggers, and media analysts, social activists, and representatives of civil societies from around the world. The 15th edition of the DW Global Media Forum was in-person at the World Conference Center in Bonn, Germany after virtual forums of the previous years due to COVID’19 restrictions.
At the opening ceremony, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock welcomed the participants of the Global Media Forum on their arrival in Germany and said she believed in freedom of the press. She added that the wars were never a guarantor of peace and hoped that the journalists and representatives of global media attending the DW Global Media Forum would play their role to highlight the Russian aggression in Ukraine.
Representatives of various media groups from Pakistan also attended the DW Global Media Forum. During the forum, senior Pakistani journalist Azaz Syed and renowned author Atif Tauqeer expressed their views on the safety of journalists and freedom of expression as well as how can journalists play a role as a reliable source of information.
At the two-day forum, attendees appeared to seek answers to key questions about global events and developments on the global horizon as well as to better address issues such as epidemics and what businesses can support a free press.
