The recent visit of His Excellency Serdar Berdimuhamedov, President of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan on 14-15 July 2022 has been made during the great regional transformation era. On the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Serdar Berdimuhamedov visited Uzbekistan to discuss areas of mutual development, strengthening Uzbek-Turkmen’s friendship, good-neighbourliness vis-à-vis enhancing strategic partnership and multilateral relations.
I believe that this visit will pave the way for regional connectivity under the visionary leadership of both leaders. Moreover, both leaders showed great consideration for multiple aspects of joint collaboration. In this regard, significant aspects were brought into discussion including:
- Strengthening trade & economic ties
- Establishing industrial cooperation
- Increasing transport and transit potential
- Implementing important projects in the water sector, activating interregional contacts and continuing cultural and humanitarian exchange programs
- Curtailing common issues and challenges
Under these assertions, it has been clear that this visit will prove to be instrumental in order to extend cooperation between both nations. The decision of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to visit Uzbekistan on priority right after the election depicts the popularity of President Mirziyoyev’s robust policies of good neighbourhood and revival of regional socioeconomic ties.
Undoubtedly, the successful conduct of statecraft and effective strategies have made President Shavkat a role model leader for other states. Therefore, practical implementation of joint projects by signing various accords and agreements would create the interest of other regional countries to pursue a similar path to attain common aspirations with a shared-forward-looking spirit.
