Open-ended Extraordinary Emergency Meeting of the Executive Committee’ at the level of Foreign Ministers on the situation in Palestine on 18 October 2023 at OIC Headquarters

On the initiative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as the Chair of the Islamic Summit, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has announced the convening of an ‘Open Ended Extraordinary Emergency Meeting of the OIC Executive Committee’ at the level of the Foreign Ministers on Wednesday, 18th October 2023 at 1300 hrs at the OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah.

In addition to the members of the OIC Executive Committee which includes: Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, The Gambia, Mauritania, and Cameroon, all other OIC Member States will also participate in the Open-Ended Emergency Meeting.

The meeting will be held in an ‘in-person’ format and will discuss the ongoing Israeli military aggression against the Palestinian people.

Foreign Minister of Pakistan H.E. Jalil Abbass Jilani will participate in the meeting. He would deliberate upon the formulation of a joint OIC strategy to deal with the crisis along with the Foreign Ministers of other participating OIC Member States.

The Foreign Minister would also register Pakistan’s unequivocal condemnation of the Israeli hostilities against the Palestinians and reaffirm Pakistan’s position on the Palestine issue which advocates the formation of a viable, contiguous, and sovereign Palestinian state on the basis of the pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds AlSharif as its capital.
