Chasing a target of 155, Karachi Kings got off to a solid start, with opener Mohammad Akhlaq playing a quickfire innings of 24 off just 13 balls. However, it was Kieron Pollard’s explosive batting that stole the show, as he remained unbeaten on 49 off 21 balls, guiding the Kings to victory with four boundaries and four maximums.
Shoaib Malik also played a crucial role, scoring 29 off 29 balls, providing stability to the innings after an early wobble. James Vince contributed with a solid 38 off 30 balls, ensuring a smooth chase for Karachi Kings.
Earlier, Peshawar Zalmi struggled against Karachi’s bowlers, with Mir Hamza and Hasan Ali taking three wickets each to restrict Zalmi to 154/9 in their 20 overs. Babar Azam’s 68-run partnership with Rovman Powell provided some resistance, but the Zalmi batsmen failed to build on it.
Despite Asif Ali’s quickfire 23 off 16 balls, Peshawar Zalmi fell short of a competitive total. Daniel Sams also played a crucial role, picking up two wickets for Karachi Kings.
With this win, Karachi Kings have secured their first victory in PSL 9, while Peshawar Zalmi will look to bounce back in their upcoming matches.
