Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: A high-level meeting of religious, social, and political leaders from Azad Kashmir convened in Jeddah to address the growing tensions in Indian-administered Kashmir. The gathering emphasized the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the longstanding Kashmir conflict and amplifying the voices of the oppressed Kashmiri people.

Key Leaders Call for International Engagement

The event was presided over by Sardar Waqas Inayat, President of the Jammu Kashmir Overseas Community, Jeddah, and attended by prominent figures including Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, former Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, and Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai, Secretary General of the World Kashmir Awareness Forum.

Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan highlighted the fundamental right of self-determination, referencing the United Nations Charter. He warned of the severe risks posed by unresolved tensions, including the threat of nuclear conflict, and praised Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman’s efforts to promote dialogue and peace between India and Pakistan.

Freedom and Self-Determination at the Forefront

Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai stressed that the Kashmir issue goes beyond development concerns, underscoring the people’s demand for freedom and autonomy. He cautioned that global inaction could destabilize the region and threaten international security.

Former Hurriyat Conference Convener, Mr. Farooq Rehmani, urged an end to violence and called on the international community to act. He emphasized India’s need to sincerely engage with Kashmiri aspirations to achieve lasting peace.
