Media reports said that Najam Sethi and his wife met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the occasion of his visit to Lahore. In this regard, it was reported that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has given an indication to appoint Najam Sethi as Chairman of PCB.
Earlier this year, it was reported in the appeal that the current chairman PCB Ramiz Raja had decided not to resign from his post after the end of the PTI government. It should be remembered that in 2014, during the rule of the Muslim League (N), then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif appointed Najam Sethi as the head of PCB. Later in 2018 when the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government came, he had to resign and Ehsan Mani was appointed as the new Chairman of PCB in his place.
Najam Sethi as the PCB Chairman launched the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and took steps to bring international cricket back to the country. After the resounding success of the first edition of PSL, the next two editions of the league proved to be more successful than before and PSL continued to create new records of popularity as well as providing the best players to the national team.
During his tenure as PCB chief, cricket teams from ICC World XI, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe toured Pakistan. Najam Sethi was unanimously elected Chairman of PCB for 3 years by the 10 members of the Board of Governors in August 2017 before resigning in 2018.
