National Library of Pakistan Hosts Book Exhibition to Commemorate Defense Day

TN Media News Islamabad, 9th September 2024 – The National Library of Pakistan held a special Book Exhibition to commemorate Pakistan’s Defence Day, honoring the bravery and sacrifices of the country’s armed forces. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram, Executive Director of the Pakistan Research Center for a Community with a Shared Future (PRCCSF), who was invited as the Chief Guest.

During the inauguration, Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram delivered a keynote speech highlighting the significance of Defence Day, which marks the defense of Pakistan during the 1965 war. He praised the valor, sacrifices, and patriotism of both the armed forces and citizens who defended the nation. Mr. Akram also reflected on the historical events that shaped this day, underscoring the resilience and strength displayed by the defenders of Pakistan.

Mr. Raja Javed Iqbal, Director General of the National Library of Pakistan, also addressed the audience. His speech focused on the importance of such commemorative events in preserving the nation’s collective memory, noting that historical and literary exhibitions like this serve as vital tools for educating future generations about the country’s rich heritage and the legacy of its national heroes.

The exhibition, organized to celebrate Pakistan’s Defence Day, features a wide collection of books related to the country’s history, culture, and national figures. Special sections are dedicated to Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the armed forces. The exhibition also includes a unique display of old newspapers from September 1965, providing visitors, especially the younger generation, with a glimpse into the media coverage and public sentiment during that crucial period in Pakistan’s history.

This thoughtful initiative by the National Library of Pakistan offers an opportunity for readers to explore significant literary works and gain a deeper understanding of the country’s defense and cultural history. The exhibition will remain open to the public until 13th September 2024.
