Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan Railway Project will Materialize Soon

The Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan trilateral railway project will soon be materialized, making regional re-connectivity possible, according to Uzbek Ambassador to Pakistan Aybek Arif Usmanov.

During a roundtable discussing the 30-year anniversary of Pakistan and Uzbekistan’s diplomatic relations as well as Uzbekistan’s chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Uzbek envoy made these remarks.

The ambassador stated that the Transit Trade Agreement (TTA) between Pakistan and Uzbekistan would enable the regional countries to broaden their trade and transit horizons. Both countries have, over the past three decades, diversified relations and made a considerable contribution to regional peace and stability.

He asserted that both countries have cultivated stronger and deeper ties in trade, health, security, agriculture, and information technology. The rapport between the two countries is advancing further with each passing day. He stated there is increasingly close and intimate cooperation in political, economic, and security fields.

In her opening remarks, President of the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies Farhat Asif underscored the importance of thirty years of Pakistan-Uzbekistan relations and of Uzbekistan’s chairmanship of the SCO, where the country has played a significant role by hosting numerous events of diverse nature.

The event was hosted by the Centre for Central Asia and Eurasian Studies-Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies in collaboration with the Embassy of Uzbekistan to Pakistan and the Riphah Institute of Public Policy.
