There may be a Bollywood wedding this weekend as there are reports that actor Farhan Akhtar and singer Shibani Dandekar will be tying the knot. The events are reportedly set to kickoff from Feb 19. In an exclusive comment to the Hindustan Times, sources close to the family revealed that that the couple will be having a traditional and intimate Mahrashtrian wedding ceremony at Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi’s farmhouse in Khandala, Mahrashtra.
An insider told the publication, “The family has been extremely discreet about this wedding as they don’t want the media to turn up at the venue. Only family members have been invited. It is still unclear how things are planned, as everything is under wraps. But in most probability, it will be a Maharashtrian wedding.”
The report also added that the family will leave for the hill station on Feb 18 evening as the ceremony the next day will be held in the daytime. The publication also reported that the bride’s sisters are in charge of the pre-wedding festivities, including a bachelorette party that will be held today (Feb 17) and tomorrow.
Previous reports had claimed that the couple would be tying the knot on Feb 21.
Two weeks ago his father, Javed, spoke about the wedding to the Times of India and said, “Yes, the wedding is taking place. Rest, shaadi ki jo taiyyariyan hain [the wedding preparation] that is being taken care of by the wedding planners.”
He also told the publication that due to Covid-19 the event is going to be intimate with just close friends and family. “Taking the situation into consideration, it is obvious that we cannot host anything on a large scale. So, we are only calling a few people,” he said.
