China’s Role as the Leading Developing Country: Fostering Common Development Initiatives for Developing Nations Despite Western Divisive Efforts

By: Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram, Executive Director, Pakistan Research Center for a Community with Shared Future (PRCCSF), Islamabad.

China has spearheaded a remarkable transformation in terms of the economy, lifting millions of people out of poverty, and initiating various development programs and initiatives aimed at fostering growth, prosperity, and overall well-being in other developing countries. It serves as a compelling example for the world, demonstrating how to create ample development opportunities and build a community that benefits all of humanity.

China has entered a golden age as a result of its efforts towards massive modernization and its contribution to global peace. As a result, China has assisted nations in enhancing their efforts for a shared future and collaborative cooperation in every possible way.

China has provided technical and financial assistance to the majority of developing countries and has backed renewable energy projects in Africa and Asia and also started various projects in other countries. China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has aspired to boost economic development and connectivity throughout Asia, Europe, and Africa. In the case of non-traditional security, China has actively supported all countries in their efforts to combat climate change and solve global challenges.

Chinese President Xi Jinping believes that the world is a shared community in which people coexist peacefully and all individuals are members of one family. The Chinese leadership has led its foreign policy based on the concepts of constructing a unified global community and advancing top-level diplomacy.

Always concerned about humanity’s well-being, China has aided in the development of cultural relations with other countries and the promotion of mutual understanding. China always adheres to the values and aims of the United Nations Charter, settling any issues through diplomatic channels and discussions, respecting state sovereignty, and refraining from meddling in their domestic affairs.

Grand Initiatives: Developing countries have expressed strong confidence in Chinese leadership, recognizing its role in driving socioeconomic development and fostering shared prosperity. China has introduced numerous significant initiatives, including dialogue among civilizations, GSI, GDI, and others, providing Chinese solutions to promote global growth, mutual security, and cultural enrichment. The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has not only positively impacted millions of lives in developing countries but also in developed nations.

The Global Development Initiative (GDI) is committed to a people-centered approach and prioritizes inclusive benefits for all. Its primary objective is to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, forge deep global development partnerships, and facilitate international development cooperation.

China is devoted to supporting high-quality growth and expediting the construction of a new development paradigm, eager to share development prospects with other countries. Demonstrating strong support, China actively assists all developing nations in their progress, promoting shared prosperity and advancement for everyone across the globe.

President Xi Jinping introduced the Global Security Initiative (GSI) during the opening ceremony of the 2022 Boao Forum for Asia. This initiative aims to foster common security objectives, emphasizing respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries.

China upholds the principles outlined in the United Nations Charter, takes legitimate security concerns of nations seriously, and advocates for peaceful dialogue and consultation to resolve differences and disputes, ensuring security in both traditional and non-traditional realms.

The GSI strives to address the root causes of international conflicts, enhance global security governance, promote collaborative international efforts, and bring stability and certainty to a dynamic and evolving era, thus advancing global peace and development.

The “Global Civilization Initiative” was presented by President Xi Jinping during the CPC Dialogue in March 2023. The main aim of the Chinese leadership behind this initiative is to promote tolerance for the diversity of world civilizations and uphold the principles of diversity, dialogue, and civilizational inclusion.

China is successfully advancing its mission by fostering shared values among humanity and encouraging active people-to-people exchanges and cooperation. China actively encourages exchanges and mutual learning among different cultures.

Furthermore, China’s efforts to promote humanity’s common values facilitate mutual cooperation among people from various countries and enable collaborative approaches to addressing global challenges.

US and West militarization Policy: The West has always had a problem with China’s massive economic development. They always criticizes the multibillion-dollar Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). BRI has transformed roads, trains, ports, and power plants across the world, and now the USA and West is focusing on halting the grand Chinese development by accusing China of various human rights issues.

The militaristic nature of Western alliances—NATO, the Australia-UK-US (AUKUS) security partnership, and a so-called “revitalized Quad” arrangement designed to continuously divide, isolate, and contain China in the Indo-Pacific region. Contiguous US and Western intervention in the South China Sea, which raises tensions and jeopardizes regional peace and security.

The Western approach to China is the militarization of the world, which is leading to increased confrontation. This is due to self-generated Sinophobia, which is bringing the countries closer to becoming vassals and tools for gaining hegemony in the Indo-Pacific. The United States is continually devising new strategies to promote its hegemony, promoting the so-called China danger theory.

Some Western and US politicians and policymakers attempt to create a self-conceived virtual world among their populace, continually inciting hatred towards China for media consumption, political compulsions, and the whims and wishes of its regional allies.

Military interventions by the United States have resulted in immense destruction, wreckage, and collateral damage to lesser nations, wreaking havoc on their delicate social fabrics and adding ineffectiveness to their baby political systems in all occupied countries.

Unfortunately, the USA and Western policymakers and strategists have coined many notions to legitimize their military activities by disseminating false, fraudulent, and fictional propaganda, which has now become a bleeding wound to the world’s society and system.

The Western approach to militarization against China is causing a rise in confrontation in the world. West will never achieve its war-monger ambitions. The West’s aim to weaken China will ultimately prove unsuccessful.
