Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Amin Ul Haque inaugurated a three-day ’22nd ITCN Asia International IT & Telecom Show’ here on Thursday. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Federal Minister for IT congratulated Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd and other stakeholders for organising the ITCN Asia exhibition.
He said it is the biggest and the most consistent tech event in the country is held annually for over two decades in which the Ministry of IT & Telecom always supports the industry.
There is participation not only from the domestic industry but also from different countries. More than 200 companies are here and 20+ knowledge sessions will be taking place in 3 days, he said. He said Pavilions are also established by PSEB, P@SHA, IGNITE and NITB, adding that he is so happy to see 50+ startups and 15+ VC/Investors will be attending the event.
Federal Minister for IT Syed Amin Ul Haque said that there were great opportunities for investment in IT and telecom sector of Pakistan, adding that the Ministry of IT & Telecom will fully support and facilitate the investors.
This is the right time to invest in technology and exhibitions like this are important to bring everyone under one roof, he said. He noted that because of this event Pakistan’s IT industry will allure investment, and domestic commerce and IT exports will also increase.
Federal Minister for IT Syed Amin Ul Haque said that foreign direct investment in the telecom sector of Pakistan is over USD1 billion 20 Crore. Telecom revenue reached Rs 694 billion by December 2022, he added.
He said that Smart Phone For All is the vision of the Ministry of IT and now smartphones are being manufactured in Pakistan. Overall the number of Mobile and fixed Broadband users has reached 125 million, he said.
Syed Amin Ul Haque said that National Information Technology Board (NITB) was playing a very active role in E-governance programs. NITB launched over 31 portals and 15 mobile Applications during the last four years.
It also ensured the implementation of E-office in 40 ministries and over 100 government departments. He said steps are being taken to increase IT exports.
He went on to say that under DigiSkills Program, 2 million youth are being imparted online training. Federal Minister for IT also visited the pavilions of startups, Zong and tech companies.
