“ Karakol becomes CIS cultural capital”

The official opening ceremony of the international program “Karakol – CIS cultural capital” was held at the central stadium of Karakol on July 1. The event was attended by President Sadyr Japarov, Russian President’s Special Representative for Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoi, CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund Anatoliy Iksanov and other officials.

The event started with a theatrical prologue. President Sadyr Japarov then delivered a congratulatory speech. The international program “Karakol – CIS cultural capital” was opened on the birthday of Karakol.

President Japarov said Karakol is one of the most beautiful cities in Kyrgyzstan. This is the best tourist city for domestic and foreign tourists, he said.

The given international program will give a new impetus to the development of Karakol, the spread of ideas of a culture of peace, interethnic and interreligious accord, President Japarov said. The event then continued with the concert program of the CIS Youth Symphony Orchestra.
