Muhammad Nizam Karachi (Sports Reporter): The Shahid Afridi Foundation (SAF) National Physical Disability Grade 2 T20 Cricket Championship commenced with an impressive victory for the Quetta Bolan Physical Disability Team, who triumphed over Larkana PD by 7 wickets. The match was held at the IT University Cricket Ground, in collaboration with the Shahid Afridi Foundation and Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Association (PPDCA).
Quetta Bolan’s Allauddin was named Man of the Match for his stellar performance, scoring 32 runs not out and taking 4 wickets. Tanveer Ahmed also shone, claiming 4 wickets for 15 runs, instrumental in restricting Larkana to 158 runs.
The first day of the Grade 2 stage in Quetta saw Larkana PD, participating in the championship for the first time, fall to a 7-wicket defeat. The event was graced by special guests, including Haji Abdul Malik Ajkzai, General Secretary of the Regional Cricket Association Quetta, and former Pakistan Cricket Board Management Committee member Muhammad Kakar.
Haji Abdul Malik expressed his pleasure in attending the event, stating, “I am very much among you people. I am thankful to the Regional Head PPDCA Aslam Bareach. I have a strong desire to go wherever there is PD cricket across Pakistan. Quetta region is ready to support PPDCA in every way.” He also highlighted the pride for the region in having Abdullah Khan and Saifullah represent the National team in PD Cricket.
Larkana’s innings concluded at 158, with Zakir Ali top-scoring with a rapid 48 off 21 balls, including nine fours. Ahmed Qureshi contributed 36 runs off 24 balls, featuring five fours. Despite these efforts, seven of Larkana’s batters failed to reach double figures.
In response, Quetta Bolan chased down the target in 19 overs, scoring 161 for 3. Amir Habib led the chase with a solid 45 runs off 40 balls, including five fours. Allauddin’s unbeaten 32 runs, Noorullah’s 30, and Sirajuddin’s 24 with three fours and a six, sealed the victory. Larkana’s Khan Mohammad, Awad Ahmed, and Ahmed Qureshi each took one wicket.
Allauddin received the Player of the Match award from the chief guest, General Secretary Quetta Region Cricket Association Haji Abdul Malik. The championship’s remaining matches will be held in Sialkot and Faisalabad, promising more exciting cricket action ahead.
