YDA JPMC Holds Urgent Cabinet Meeting to Address Challenges Faced by Medical Professionals.

Karachi (Report) – The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) convened a pivotal cabinet meeting, led by Dr. Mahboob Noonari, Chairman of YDA Sindh, to discuss the ongoing challenges and pressures faced by medical professionals. The meeting underscored the urgent need for corrective measures to ensure the well-being and rights of medical staff at the hospital.

A key point of discussion was the demand for a merit-based selection process for the upcoming National Testing Service (NTS) exams, scheduled for January 5, 2025, for FCPS and MCPS residency programs. The YDA stressed the necessity of forming a transparent selection committee, comprising senior faculty members, to prevent any potential bias or favoritism during the selection process.

The association also raised concerns about the ward allotment process for house officers, calling for the re-conduct of interviews to ensure fairness and impartiality in the selection. Furthermore, the YDA strongly condemned allegations of harassment against the Head of the Urology Ward, demanding immediate action to address the issue and ensure a safe working environment for female doctors.

In addition, the YDA called for the immediate release of pending stipends for house officers and postgraduate trainees, highlighting the financial strain this delay is causing for medical professionals in training.

The association urged the hospital administration to take swift and decisive action to address these concerns and uphold the principles of merit, fairness, and safety within the medical community. The YDA issued a stern warning that failure to meet these demands could lead to protests and a potential boycott of outpatient departments (OPDs), further intensifying the pressure on the administration to resolve these critical issues.
