India secured a thrilling victory over England in the T20 World Cup 2024 semifinal at Wankhede Stadium, booking their place in the final. England won the toss and elected to bat, posting a competitive 175/6, thanks to strong contributions from Jos Buttler (52) and Liam Livingstone (40). India’s bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal, kept the pressure high with key wickets.
Chasing 176, India started cautiously after losing KL Rahul early. However, Virat Kohli (65) and Shubman Gill (50) built a crucial 98-run partnership. In a tense finish, Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant guided India home. Pant sealed the win with a six off the final over, finishing at 179/4 with four balls to spare.
Kohli was named Player of the Match. India now awaits the winner of Australia vs. New Zealand for the final at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
