India Women booked their place in the semifinals of the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 with a commanding 82-run victory over Nepal Women. Electing to bat first, India set a formidable total of 178/3, thanks to a stellar performance by Shafali Verma. Verma dazzled with the bat, scoring 81 off 48 balls, including 12 fours and a six. Dayalan Hemalatha provided solid support with 47 off 42 balls, while Jemimah Rodrigues added a quickfire 28 off 15 balls, pushing the total to a challenging score.
Nepal’s bowlers struggled to contain the Indian batters, with Sita Rana Magar being the most effective, taking 2 wickets for 25 runs. However, their efforts were not enough to prevent India from posting an imposing target.
In reply, Nepal Women faced a disciplined Indian bowling attack and could only manage 96/9 in their 20 overs. Arundhati Reddy struck early, taking 2 wickets for 28 runs, and Deepti Sharma delivered a match-winning performance with the ball, claiming 3 wickets for just 13 runs. Radha Yadav also contributed with 2 wickets, helping to restrict Nepal’s scoring.
