Sharyar Stared Dawar Gladiator to a third consecutive thrilling victory in KPL 1.
The 7th match of the Khatri Premier league season 1 saw Dawar Gladiators come head to head with the Sonija Soldiers as they grabbed a thrilling four-wicket victory on Wednesday at the Asghar Ali Shah cricket stadium Karachi.
It was Dawar Gladiators’ third successive victory in a row.
Sonija Soldiers batted first after winning the toss and were off to a fine start, with opener, Muhammad Afzal scoring a confident 31 runs with five fours and one six, to initiate the run flow for his team. Habib Ullah took on from where his teammate Afzal left off, to score a fantastic 32 runs off 31 balls, thereby laying the platform for a competitive total. Hannan Khan concluded the inning with a 23 ball of 27 runs to propel the Sonija Soldiers to a grand total of 146 runs Skipper Ilyas Muneem has retired out 18 runs of 25 balls.
The DD bowlers bowled well throughout the innings with Liaquat Khatri taking 2 wickets for 27 runs respectively.
Dawar Gladiators, chasing 147 runs in 20 overs, were off to a flying start with both openers striking the ball cleanly to all parts of the ground. Osama Razzaq scored a quick 31 runs in 16 balls with three fours and two sixes while fellow opener Zubair Haji contributed with a solid 46 runs in 28 balls with five fours and one six.
However, Skipper Ilyas Muneen and Muhammad Afzal momentarily got their team back in the game by dismissing the openers. In spite of this, the Dawar Gladiators’ batsmen, especially Sharyar Ghani and Aleem Khan continued where the openers had left off to ensure a win for their team.
Sharyar Ghanian scored unbeaten 43 runs off 30 balls with four boundaries and two sixes while Aleem Khan made 19 runs in 26 balls.
