by: TN Media News Pakistan: The Society 5.0 Initiative Futures Forum 2025 took place on December 3, 2025, at FAST-NUCES Islamabad. The event gathered government officials, business leaders, and global experts to strengthen Pakistan’s capacity in anticipatory governance and future preparedness.

Opening Session Sets the Stage for Future Thinking

The forum opened with remarks from Wahaj us Siraj, CEO of Nayatel, along with senior leadership from S5i and FAST-NUCES. Their message emphasized the need for future-focused collaboration to support Pakistan’s long-term progress.

Keynote Highlights on Governance, Foresight, and Innovation

Justice Mushir Alam, former Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, attended as the special guest.
Dr. Nadeem ul Haque, former Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, delivered a keynote that stressed the urgency of integrating foresight into institutional design and national policy.

Experts Share Insights on AI Ethics and Responsible Innovation

Several distinguished speakers enriched the forum, including Mr. Imtiaz Rastgar, Mr. Azhar Zia Rehman, and faculty members from leading academic institutions.

A major highlight was the session by Mr. Noman Waseem, CEO of STAS and President (PK) of the Pakistani Executive Forum. He addressed AI ethics and the importance of building a strong ecosystem for responsible and future-oriented innovation in Pakistan.

Launch of Pakistan’s First AI Ethics Maturity Assessment

The forum also marked the launch of Pakistan’s first AI Ethics Maturity Assessment, a milestone for ethical technology deployment.
In addition, organizers announced the Certified Futures Practitioner Program, beginning in January 2026, to promote futures literacy and responsible AI practices across institutions.

A National Platform for Collaboration and Futures Literacy

More than 500 leaders attended physically, with thousands joining online. The Forum established itself as a national hub for collaboration in:

  • Futures literacy
  • Cross-sector policy alignment

The event strengthened momentum toward a more future-ready Pakistan.

Building Foresight Capacity Across Pakistan

Co-Founder Syed Muhammad Bin Ahmed and FAST-NUCES Rector Mr. Aftab Maroof highlighted that Pakistan’s rapidly changing environment creates unique opportunities to build foresight capacity.
They stressed that such initiatives enhance professional development and support cooperation between academia, government, and the private sector.
