Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: The 29th annual Hasan Qiraat competition, organized by the Pakistan Writers Club (PWC) and its Ladies Chapter, took place in the capital city of Riyadh, attracting 23 young boys and girls who captivated the audience with their exceptional recitation of the Holy Quran.
The event, which was attended by a wide audience, included distinguished guest Rana Muhammad Masoom, the Welfare Attaché of the Embassy of Pakistan, who lauded the participants for their impressive performances. He congratulated both the children and their families for their outstanding achievements in the competition. “This competition not only highlights the cultural heritage of Islam but also underscores the importance of exposing the new generation to the teachings of the Holy Quran,” Masoom said. “Such exposure will enable them to play a more active and positive role in society based on the values of the Quran.”
Engineer Naveed-ur-Rehman, the President of the Pakistan Writers Club, also addressed the gathering. He emphasized the significance of Quranic education, stating, “The competition for the best recitation of the Quran serves as a means to gain prosperity in both this life and the hereafter. The Quran’s teachings have illuminated the world, eliminating the darkness of oppression. By adhering to the Quran, we can create a world of peace, security, and tranquility.”
Several other prominent figures also spoke during the event, including Zubair Bhatti, Dr. Farah Nadia, Shaheen, Arshad Tabassum, Yousaf Ali, Qari Islam, and Qari Abdul Malik, all of whom commended the Pakistan Writers Club for its efforts in promoting Quranic recitation among the youth.
As the ceremony came to a close, prizes were presented to the top-ranking participants in the competition. In addition, gifts were given to community leaders in recognition of their contributions. The event also took a moment to offer special prayers for the late Majida, mother of PWC senior member Waleed Ijaz Awan, as well as for Saba Parveen, wife of “Fakhar News” bureau chief Ijaz Ahmed Tahir Awan, and Syed Shaukat Jamal, a respected humorist and writer.
The 29th Hasan Qiraat competition was a vibrant celebration of faith, culture, and community, leaving participants and attendees alike with a renewed appreciation for the beauty of the Quranic recitation and its role in fostering a peaceful and prosperous society.
