On Tuesday, Pakistan women team became the first Asian Nation to register a T20 series victory against New Zealand. Having said that, the side received accolades from the cricketing fraternity on this record-breaking series win.
Talking about the second game, Pakistan were asked to bat first and put a modest total of 137 on a tricky pitch of Dunedin. Muneeba Ali was top scorer as she accumulated 35 runs. The late blitz of Aliya Riaz helped Pakistan to propell to a fighting total, given Pakistan’s brilliance with the ball during the 1st T20 of the series.
Before the series, Pakistan had never won a single T20 against the White Ferns. So, this time, the girls in green, cashed the opportunity with both hands and displayed skilful bowling to beat New Zealand by 10 runs.
Sadia Iqbal provided New Zealand with the early blow as she dismissed Bernadine Bezuidenhout and Amelia Kerr during her early spell. Then, of course, Fatima Sana, with her sharp bowling skills, sent Suzie Bates packing, denting New Zealand’s hopes of a comeback.
In the end, New Zealand were able to put 127 runs on the board, falling short of 10 runs of the given target. Aliya was adjudged player of the match and the Pakistan team received massive accolades from their men compatriots and the rest of the cricketing world.
