Comments on ‘’2-year anniversary of Ganja terror

Written by: Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram Executive Director, Pakistan Research Center for a Community with Shared Future (PRCCSF), Islamabad.
Today marked the 2nd anniversary of the first attack by the Armenian armed forces on the centre of Ganja, the second largest city of Azerbaijan with an ancient history. Armenia used an operational-tactical ballistic missile as a result, 26 civilians, including women and children, died and 174 people were injured. During the second Karabakh war, Armenia continued its terrorist acts against the innocent civilian population and grossly violated the norms and principles of international law.

On this occasion, we firmly stand with the people of Azerbaijan and the true cause of humanity and peaceful co-existence. Yerevan must be held accountable for its provocations, attacks, and violation of the rule of law. History has been written with blood and many sacrifices from the people of Azerbaijan.

I believe that the International community along with regional stakeholders must put pressure on Armen to stop ceasefire violations, hand over the correct maps, and stay true to the cause of cooperation and peacebuilding. Yerevan leadership must follow all protocols of the ceasefire agreement and shed the traditional pessimistic concept of waging war and igniting conflicts in the region.
