Department of Arts and Media at Foundation University School of Science and Technology welcomed Mr Zafar Bakhtawari, CEO D Watson as the eminent speaker in its distinguished leaders’ series on “How to Begin Your Venture: Creative Business Ideas to Kickstart Your Journey” on February 29th, 2024.
Dr Hina Shahid, Head Department of Arts and Media welcomed Mr Zafar Bakhtawari CEO D Watson and Mr Khalid Taimur Akram, Convener of “Foreign Affairs for Investment & Entrepreneurship Sub-Committee” of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and introduced them to various academic activities of the department. This insightful and motivational lecture aimed at nurturing and motivating the entrepreneurial spirit among students pursuing Bachelor of Computer Arts and BS Media & Communication.
Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram began the seminar with an inspiring overview of CEO D Watson, Mr Zafar Bakhtawari’s achievements, and articulated appreciation of his work as he is considered a big wig in the entrepreneurial landscape. Mr Zafar Bakhtawari shared some very personal details of his life journey with the students as how he started his early life. He mentioned various hardships and challenges he faced during the journey of building D Watson Chemist and Super Store, a prominent chain of pharmacists and retail stores in Pakistan.
His motivational address urged students to cultivate qualities of positivity, patriotism, loyalty, and hard work. He also guided students about the actual realities faced by the young generation about their unrealistic ambitions of getting settled abroad. He further emphasizes the boundless opportunities for the students within the Arts and Media Department in FUSST. He highlighted the importance of brands in the coming times and encouraged students to build their own brands and engage themselves in business ventures.
Mr Zafar Bakhtawari’s entrepreneurial journey symbolizes resilience, innovation, and community engagement. He symbolizes vision extends beyond business success; he aims to further expand D Watson’s reach to serve more communities while upholding the values of approachability and quality healthcare while promoting the positive image of Pakistan.
Furthermore Ms. Fatima Hassan from Islamabad Chamber of Commerce illuminated the students with insights in to the youth empowerment initiative “Youth Assembly” by Mr Zafar Bakhtawari and Mr Khalid Taimur Akram, that particularly focus on the business skill development of the students. This program designed to empower students with practical skills and certification.
Dr. Hina Shahid, HoD Arts & Media, expressed her deepest gratitude to the esteemed speakers, she encouraged and pledged to integrate their expertise into the university’s long-term strategy to encourage the greater opportunities for students of Arts & Media in the realm of business and entrepreneurship. In the end of this insightful lecture a token of appreciation in the form of shield was presented to Mr. Zafar Bakhtawari in gratitude of his valuable contributions to the event.
