ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Federal Finance Minister Miftah Ismail says that the country is submerged in floods and alleged that the finance minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is writing a letter against the IMF agreement.
Talking to newsmen in a press conference on Friday, Miftah Ismail said that “PTI people say that if the government of Imran Khan will not restore, then we will set the country on fire.”
He said that we will not let this country be destroyed, and the IMF program for Pakistan will be approved on Monday. Miftah Ismail said that the flood caused a lot of damage in the country, and it is difficult to estimate the cost of reconstruction and rehabilitation.
He further said that there has been a loss of 40 to 50 billion rupees only in livestock, while the loss of property is also in billions of rupees. About 1.5 million families are being given 25 thousand rupees per household under the 28 billion rupees Benazir Income Support Program for flood-affected people.
According to Miftah, 25 thousand rupees are being given to each family, they will get it for a week. This money will reach the poor people in a very transparent manner. He said that Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has given orders to release an additional 15 billion rupees for the flood victims during his visit to Sukkur.
The federal finance minister said that Premier Shahbaz will visit Hyderabad and other parts of the country. He said that this time there was a dangerous flood and record rains since 2010.
