The program started with the recitation of the Holy Quran and the introduction of our great poet “Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal”. H.E. Mr. Tidjani Idrissa Abdoulkadri Government Spokesperson / Minister of poultry & Animal Breeding presided over the Iqbal Day ceremony.
The students of the African Institute of Science & Technology (AIT) Niger presented the National Anthems of Pakistan and Niger. Meanwhile, different speeches by the President of Englis Clubs were delivered with great messages of his poetry.
Ambassador Mr. Ahmed Ali Sirohey in his speech highlighted that Iqbal Day commemorates the history and essence of literature, unfolds the sacrifice, and highlights the efforts of Muslim heroes, whose wisdom and ideology brought the Muslims of the subcontinent together and created the consciousness of freedom in them. He said that Iqbal is known as the spiritual father of Pakistan, a brainchild behind the two-nation theory which culminated in the formation of Pakistan on 14 August 1947.
He underscored that while celebrating the birth anniversary of the great poet and philosopher, it was important to study deeper about his philosophy of life, individual responsibility and communal harmony. Ambassador Ahmed Ali Sirohey particularly appreciated the students who presented poems and participated in a different program of the ceremony.
