This was stated by the chairman of the State Tourism Agency Fuad Nagiyev at the 7th meeting of the Ministers of Tourism of the Organization of Turkic States in Shamakhi. The chairman of the agency stressed that the tourism industry in Azerbaijan has begun to recover, the importance of mutual propaganda for the development of tourism relations between the two countries and the increase of tourist exchanges, and hopes for an increase in the share of Turkish countries in the country’s statistics.

He noted that the member states of the Organization of Turkic States, along with factors such as historical roots, common history and cultural heritage, geographical proximity, visa-free travel and direct flights, the development of tourism relations, as well as cooperation based on friendship and mutual understanding. said he had contributed. He also noted that our liberated lands have great tourism potential, the Azerbaijani government is carrying out large-scale construction work in these areas, Karabakh will soon become a regional tourist destination and the importance of active cooperation with member states during the restoration of liberated territories.

Speaking at the event, TDT Secretary General Baghdad Amrayev thanked for the hospitality and noted that the development of relations between member countries at all levels has a positive impact on tourism. He congratulated Shamakhi on being chosen as the “Tourism Capital of the Turkic World” for 2022, noting that the continuation of this initiative will contribute to increasing mutual awareness among member countries.

It should be noted that the event discusses issues between the two countries in various fields of tourism, including cooperation in winter tourism, cooperation in creating joint tourism products. Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Aziz Abdukhakimov, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Nadir Alpaslan, Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan Yerjan Yerkinbayev, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan Mekan Ishanguliyev, as well as an observer in the organization were present at the 7th meeting.

Hungarian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Viktor Sederkenyi attended the event. Deputy Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Nursahet Shirimov joined the event online. The meeting is expected to approve the rules of the “Turkic World Tourism Capital Initiative” and adopt the “Road Map of the Organization of Turkic States on Tourism.”
