Misleading question on Rizwan’s post addressed by Australian Captain’s Cummins.

The Australian captain, Pat Cummins, was posed a misleading question by an Indian journalist during a pre-match press conference ahead of the World Cup match between Pakistan and Australia. The journalist referred to a post made by Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batter, Mohammad Rizwan, on the social media platform ‘X’, where Rizwan dedicated Pakistan’s win over Sri Lanka to the Palestinians in Gaza, saying, “This was for our brothers and sisters in Gaza.”

However, the journalist mischaracterized the post, calling it ‘controversial’ and inaccurately claimed that Rizwan had dedicated the win to Hamas, a militant organization. The journalist then questioned whether such comments were appropriate in cricket, implying it was political.

Cummins responded calmly, saying, “I think I only got half of that. But yeah, I love seeing sportspeople show their personalities. So yeah, no strong thoughts either way.”

Subsequently, various Pakistani cricketers have shown their support for the Palestinians, posting Palestine flags on their ‘X’ accounts.
