Riyadh, Saudi Arab : VOX Cinemas, the dedicated cinema arm of Majid Al Futtaim, hosted the premiere of Hollywood action thriller Kandahar on 24 May in VOX Cinemas Riyadh Front.
The event featured an exclusive screening of the first major U.S. film shot in AlUla and was attended by the Saudi Film Commission, representatives from Film AlUla and the Royal Commission for AlUla, as well as key media personalities and influencers.
Kandahar is being distributed by Eagle Films and, and its CEO, Jamal Sannan, is an Executive Producer of the film.The G-BASE, Thunder Road, Capstone Studios and MBC Studios feature reunites Gerard Butler and director Ric Roman Waugh in the story of Tom Harris (Butler), an undercover CIA operative, stuck deep in hostile territory in Afghanistan.
After his mission is exposed, he must fight his way out, alongside his Afghan translator, to an extraction point in Kandahar, all whilst avoiding elite enemy forces and foreign spies tasked with hunting them down.
The movie was supported by Film AlUla which has been mandated to promote AlUla as a filming destination for local, regional and international productions.
