On January 25, 2025, a remarkable event unfolded in Karachi, where 15-year-old Sonakshi, who has been courageously fighting heart disease, had her heartfelt wish granted—an opportunity to be a ramp model at a glamorous fashion show.
Sonakshi’s wish, to have a makeover and walk the ramp like a professional model, was brought to life through the dedicated efforts of Ishtiaq Baig and Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, the founders of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The event was nothing short of magical as Sonakshi, beaming with joy, strutted down the runway alongside a professional model, drawing an outpouring of applause from the audience.
“I had only heard incredible stories of children whose wishes were granted by Make-A-Wish before, but to witness it firsthand was something beyond words,” said Ms. Irum Fawad, President of Women Entrepreneur Pakistan Organization (WPO). “The smile on Sonakshi’s face, her sense of pride, and the tears in her eyes as the crowd stood and applauded her were a testament to the transformative power of such moments.”
As an advocate for community service, Ms. Fawad expressed her admiration for the Baig brothers, whose relentless dedication to children diagnosed with serious diseases has made a profound impact. “I believe if you serve the community, the community always serves you back,” she remarked. “Ishtiaq and Mirza Ikhtiar Baig have truly set an example of selflessness, and as the president of WPO, I am honored to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation.”
