Fahad Ansari’s Aggressive Century Propels Karachi University to Finals in HEC-PCB Inter-University Cricket Championship 2024-25.

Muhammad Nizam Karachi – In a stunning display of batting and bowling prowess, Karachi University secured their place in the finals of the HEC-PCB Inter-University Cricket Championship 2024-25 with a record-breaking victory over Hamdard University. Captain Fahad Ansari led his team to victory with an aggressive century, as Karachi University defeated Hamdard University by an astounding 316 runs in the second consecutive win of the tournament.

The match, held at Rashid Latif Academy Ground in Gulberg, was part of Zone L of the championship, organized by the University of Karachi and overseen by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Batting first, Karachi University posted a formidable total of 385/9 in their allotted 45 overs. Captain and wicketkeeper-batsman Fahad Ansari was the star of the show, playing an explosive innings of 123 runs off 91 balls, which included 19 fours and a massive six. Contributions also came from Shaan Raza, who scored a half-century (52 off 35 balls) with nine fours and seven sixes, and Mohammad Muazzam (37 runs) and Shiraz Siddiqui (32 runs). Despite efforts from Hamdard University’s Mohammad Khalid and Mujeeb Ali, who each took two wickets, they were unable to contain the relentless batting attack.

Chasing a daunting target of 386 runs, Hamdard University’s batting lineup collapsed under pressure, managing only 68 runs in 13 overs. Rao Abdul Rahman (19* runs) and Abhijeet Kamal (10 runs) were the only batsmen to reach double figures, while five players were dismissed for zero. Karachi University’s bowlers dominated, with left-arm spinner Adeel Mayo taking 3 wickets for just 1 run and medium pacer Hasan Asim also claiming 3 wickets for 3 runs in a devastating spell that left Hamdard University without any chance of recovery.

The match was officiated by umpires Aqeel Adil and Abdul Qahoum, with Syed Imran Ali serving as the official scorer. Present during the match were Director of Physical Education at Karachi University Rashid Qureshi, Head Coach Mansoor Baig, and Team Manager Gohar Raza, who lauded the team’s exceptional performance.

With this comprehensive win, Karachi University advances to the finals of the championship, continuing their dominant run in the tournament.
