ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Schedule Announced: Matches Split Between Pakistan and Dubai

ISLAMABAD | TN Media News
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially announced the schedule for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, set to take place from February 19 to March 9 in a hybrid format across Pakistan and Dubai.

The model was introduced as a compromise solution after India refused to play in Pakistan due to security concerns. To ensure full participation, India’s matches will be held in Dubai, while the remaining games will be hosted in Pakistan.

Tournament Format and Venues:

The eight-team tournament will feature 15 matches, played in:

  • Pakistan: Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi

  • Dubai: All of India’s matches and one semifinal

Karachi will host the opening match on February 19, where Pakistan will face New Zealand. India’s first match will be against Bangladesh on February 20 in Dubai.

Key Fixtures and Finals:

  • Each city in Pakistan will host three group-stage games

  • Lahore will host the second semifinal and the final on March 9—unless India qualifies, in which case the final will shift to Dubai

  • Both semifinals and the final will have reserve days

A Long-Awaited Return:

This marks the ninth edition of the ICC Champions Trophy and its first return since 2017. The event is expected to attract millions of fans globally, showcasing the top eight teams in world cricket vying for a prestigious title.

Balancing Politics and Passion:

The hybrid model presents a logistical challenge but reflects the ICC’s effort to balance geopolitical tensions while preserving the integrity of the tournament.

Cricket fans worldwide are eagerly awaiting the return of this high-profile competition, seen as a major milestone for international cricket in Pakistan.

“A historic moment for Pakistan cricket and a major global event returning after eight years.”  ICC Statement
