“Indus Motor Company Achieves Milestone with Launch of 4th Generation Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid Electric Vehicle in Pakistan”
In a momentous occasion, Indus Motor Company (IMC) commenced production of the 4th generation Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) at its Karachi facility.
The private ceremony, attended by prominent figures including IMC Chairman Mohamedali R. Habib, celebrated the company’s commitment to localization and highlighted the enduring partnership between Japan and Pakistan. Key attendees, such as Federal Secretary of the Ministry of Industries and Production, Asad Rehman Gilani, and Toyota’s leadership, witnessed the event.
Yoshiyuki Takai, President of Emerging-market Compact Car Company at Toyota Motor Corporation, acknowledged the rising popularity of HEVs in Asia and expressed optimism for the Pakistani market. Asad Rehman Gilani commended IMC, reaffirming the government’s support for the auto sector’s advancements in hybrid and electric technologies.
Ali Asghar Jamali, IMC CEO, underscored the company’s dedication to sustainability and its pivotal role in contributing to Pakistan’s development.
The 4th generation Corolla Cross HEV SUV, the first “Make in Pakistan” HEV, boasts an 1800cc engine with hybrid and gasoline options, prioritizing performance, efficiency, and comfort.
IMC’s investment of over $100 million underscores its commitment to local production, supporting the entire automotive value chain and fostering employment for more than 450,000 individuals directly and indirectly throughout Pakistan.”
