Excitement filled the DHA ground as over 1,000 aspiring cricketers competed in trials for Pakistan’s inaugural private national Capital Premier League (CPL). Karachi players showed great enthusiasm to secure a place in one of the league’s three teams.
Expert Panel Evaluates Emerging Talent:
The trials were supervised by a panel of former national players, including Saghir Abbas, Shadab Kabir, Ali Raza, and Nadeem Babar. They carefully assessed young talent, aiming to shape the future of Pakistani cricket.
Leadership Highlights CPL’s Significance:
CPL President Chaudhry Arshad Ali Bega described the league as a turning point for cricket in Pakistan. He said the CPL will usher in a new era by involving players nationwide, including overseas Pakistanis, to elevate the country’s cricket profile globally.
CEO Aftab Nayyar Siddiqui emphasized the vast untapped talent in Pakistan’s streets. “Many gifted players have never had a platform. CPL is here to change that,” he stated.
International Participation Strengthens the League:
Sohail Shah, CEO of CPL franchise Overseas Ambassadors, highlighted the league’s global connection. “This is a historic moment. Overseas Pakistani players are excited to play at home and reconnect with their roots,” he said.
A Milestone for Pakistan’s Domestic Cricket:
CPL Director of Cricket Operations Waqar Ahmed Khan, along with cricket figures Muhammad Zubair and Muhammad Hassan Ayaz, attended the event. Their presence underlined the league’s importance in advancing Pakistan’s domestic cricket landscape.
The CPL promises to provide new opportunities for emerging cricketers while strengthening Pakistan’s position in international cricket.
