by: Syed Mussarat Khalil: The new chancery building of the Consulate General of Pakistan in Jeddah was officially inaugurated in a dignified and graceful ceremony. The event marked an important milestone in strengthening consular services for the Pakistani community living in Saudi Arabia.
The inauguration was led by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar. He was joined by the Ambassador of Pakistan to Saudi Arabia, Mr. Ahmad Farooq, and the Consul General of Pakistan in Jeddah, Syed Mustafa Rabbani.
Saudi dignitaries, senior officials, and prominent members of the Pakistani community also attended the ceremony.
A Symbolic and Meaningful Inauguration Ceremony
The ceremony began with the hoisting of the Pakistani flag at the premises of the new chancery building. This was followed by a tree plantation in the chancery lawn, symbolizing growth, friendship, and long-term cooperation.
Afterward, the Deputy Prime Minister performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony and unveiled the official plaque of the building. Special prayers were offered for the prosperity, stability, and continued friendship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
A short video presentation was also shown. It highlighted the modern facilities and key features of the new chancery building.
Government’s Commitment to Overseas Pakistanis
While addressing the gathering, Senator Ishaq Dar praised the efforts of the Consulate General of Pakistan in Jeddah. He also appreciated the support extended by Saudi authorities, which played a vital role in completing the project.
He emphasized that the Government of Pakistan remains firmly committed to facilitating overseas Pakistanis. According to him, improving consular infrastructure is a major step toward delivering faster, more efficient, and people-friendly services.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that overseas Pakistanis are a valuable asset for the country. Therefore, providing them with professional and accessible consular services remains a top priority.
Modern Facilities to Improve Consular Services
After touring the building, Senator Ishaq Dar expressed satisfaction over the quality of construction and available facilities. He officially authorized the early transfer of consular operations to the new premises.
This move is expected to significantly improve service delivery, reduce congestion, and enhance the overall experience of visitors.
The new building has been designed to meet modern diplomatic and administrative standards. As a result, it will support a wide range of services, including passports, visas, legal matters, and community support.
Major Relief for Pakistanis in Western Saudi Arabia
The Western Region of Saudi Arabia is home to approximately 1.8 million Pakistanis. For this large community, the inauguration of the new chancery building is a major development.
The modern facility will make it easier for Pakistanis to access consular services. It will also strengthen coordination between the diplomatic mission and the community.
