Bahawalpur and Peshawar Triumph on Day One of SAF Disability T20 Cricket Championship

by: TN Media News Pakistan: The second phase of the SAF Disability T20 Cricket Championship kicked off with impressive victories for Bahawalpur and Peshawar in Lahore. Organized by the Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Association and supported by the Shahid Afridi Foundation and Pakistan Cricket Board, the tournament is showcasing strong competition among regional teams.

Bahawalpur Defeats Islamabad by Seven Wickets

At Race Course Park Ground, Bahawalpur started the event on a high note by beating Islamabad by seven wickets. Batting first, Islamabad posted a total of 138 runs for nine wickets. Key performances included Adil Mehmood’s 32 runs off 16 balls, featuring four fours and two sixes, while Usman Paracha contributed 25 runs with four boundaries. Salman Ahmed added 17 runs with three fours.

In response, Bahawalpur’s batsmen performed confidently. Muhammad Shahzad remained unbeaten on 41 runs, and another standout was the player of the match, Muhammad Nauman, who scored a valuable 56 runs, including two sixes. The bowling attack also impressed, with Muhammad Shahzad and Abdul Khaliq each taking two wickets.

Peshawar’s Rahmatullah Shines with a Century Against Lahore

In the second match, Peshawar defeated Lahore by 34 runs. Peshawar posted a strong total of 206 runs for four wickets, powered by Rahmatullah’s spectacular century. He scored 100 runs from just 60 balls, hitting six fours and six sixes. Wajid Aslam supported with 62 runs off 38 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes.

Lahore’s reply saw Yasir Ajmal scoring a quick 78 runs with 14 fours and one six, while Shahid Ali Vito added 53 runs. However, Lahore fell short at 172 for five wickets. Peshawar’s bowlers, including Nahar Alam and Wasim Shah, played crucial roles in securing the victory.

Upcoming Matches and Awards

Today, Bahawalpur will face Lahore at 9:30 AM, followed by Islamabad versus Peshawar at 2 PM. Player awards were presented by officials, recognizing outstanding performances, with Muhammad Nauman and Rahmatullah earning player of the match honors.
