When the top order collapse, the lower order has to take the lead to make sure they put a decent total and this is what Shadab Khan did with the bat and the ball.
The final ODI between West Indies and Pakistan in Multan ended with Pakistan showing some class with excellent bowling and batting to win the series 3-0 in style.
There was drama in the match, which is not unusual when Pakistan is playing.
Pakistan won the toss for the second time and decided to bat first and they lost quick wickets to the West Indies captain who before this match has only taken 1 wicket and was not a regular bowler but made a huge difference by bowling 10 overs and taking 4 wickets for 48.
Babar Azam, the man in form fell for 1 run which boosted the confidence of the West Indies, but it was Iman-ul-Haq (62) along with Fakhar Zaman(35), Khushdil Shan (34) but a late strike from Shadab (86) gave Pakistan the total 269/9 in 48 overs due to a dust storm in Multan had suspended play for an hour during Pakistan’s innings and the match had to be reduced to 48 overs a side.
The win lifted Pakistan to fourth on the points table – immediately above West Indies – in the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.
The top eight teams will directly qualify for next year’s World Cup in India.
