Australia’s cricket star, Shane Watson, is gearing up for a return to the highly-anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL), but this time in a different capacity. Quetta Gladiators, who previously acquired Abrar Ahmed and Wasim Jnr in exchange for Naseem Shah, has announced Watson as their head coach for the upcoming PSL edition.
This represents the first coaching change for the Gladiators since the inception of the tournament. Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Moin Khan, who held the coaching position for eight years, will now transition to the role of team director for the side.
Watson is no stranger to coaching responsibilities, having joined the IPL franchise Delhi Capitals as an assistant coach in 2022, working alongside his former Australia teammate Ricky Ponting. Earlier this year, he was appointed as the head coach of the Major League Cricket franchise San Francisco Unicorns.
It is noteworthy that the drafts for the upcoming PSL edition are scheduled to take place on 13th December in Lahore. The list of overseas players available for the tournament has been revealed, featuring an unprecedented count of 254 international cricket players.
