After the considerable reduction in the price of diesel, the Pakistan Railways have decided to lower the rates of train tickets, to bestow the passengers with the maximum benefit possible. According to details, Pakistan Railways will announce a revised train fare that is up to 10% lower than the current prices. This revised price will be officially notified after a meeting that is convened by Secretary Pakistan Railways, Zafar Ranjha.
The meeting was called under the direction of Minister for Railways, Khawaja Saad Rafique after PM Shehbaz Sharif announced to decrease the price of diesel by Rs. 40.54. Petrol price was reduced by Rs. 18.50 as well. Pakistan Railways announced a 30% fare reduction for train travel during the Eid-ul-Azha holiday, in order to provide relief to the public. The discount remained in effect for the three days of the holiday.
In another development from earlier today, the All Pakistan Public Transport Owners Federation (APPTOF) has announced it will also reduce fares for public transport vehicles by 10%.
