In the match being played at the National Stadium in Karachi, the captain of the national team, Babar Azam, won the toss and decided to bat first. Two changes have been made in the national team, Imam-ul-Haq has been replaced by vice-captain Shaan Masood due to injury, and Naseem Shah has been replaced by Mohammad Hasnain.

On this occasion, Kiwi captain Kane Williamson said that if he had won the toss, he would have batted first, but he would try to get Pakistan out early and win the series with the match.
