WESTERN PROVINCE CRICKET ASSOCIATION: WEEK 8 PHASE 3 MORNING

JEDDAH: WPCA Jeddah Week 8 matches in the Morning Session had Two centuries scored with Kashif Shafeeq of Al Saudi Xi hammering unbeaten 118 and Sibtain Ali of Young Striker 108. Cascade Group won against Sunbonn Sultans, Nadeem XI prevailed over Pak Shaheen, Landmark Arabia lost by just a solitary run, Young Strikers smashed Super CC by mammoth 170 runs, Markhour XI downed Apex Freight by all ten wkts, Al Saudi XI thrashed Transparent Mask through Kashif ton and Black Hawks got the better of AEC to win by 15 runs.

Match # 42: Cascade Group chose to use the track first on a hot and humid Friday morning here in WPCA ground # 9 against Subonn Sultans to get to 160 for 5 in the allotted 18 overs. Mohammed Sunasra emerged the top scorer with 52 off 38 balls studded with 8 hits to the ropes as he stitched first 70 in 37 balls for the first wkt with his skipper Irfan Ayazuddin who made 36 in 23 balls with 7 hits to the fence and then 62 runs for the 2nd wkt in 43 balls with Adil Deshmukh who stroked 30 in 22 balls with 2 fours. Osama Amjed was run out for 17. Minhaj was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 25.

Sunbonn Sultans in response was stranded at 143 for 7 in stipulated 118 overs to lose by 17 runs. Roman coming at # 6 smashed 50 in 27 balls with 4 fours and a six after they were reduced to 72 for 4 in the 11th over requiring 88 runs in the remaining 42 balls, a tall required run rate. Earlier from the top order, Azeem made 31 in 16 balls with 4 fours and a six, Saad 27 in 28 balls and Faisal 18. Osama Amjed and Adil Deshmukh shared the 2 wkts each.

Match # 43: Pak Shaheen deciding to bat first on Ground # 7 against Nadeem XI could manage 124 for 8 in the allotted 18 overs. Mushair scored 52 in 30 balls with the help of 2 sixes and 5 fours without any apparent help from the top order. Later in the day Naseer made 13, Kamran 10, Sufiayan 18 not out and Sajjad 10. Ijaz grabbed 3 for 27 whereas Moosa and Sufiyan took 2 each.

Nadeem XI in chase achieved the victory target of 125 for 6 in 83 balls to win by 4 wkts with 25 balls to remain. After 2 quick wkts in the start of the innings to reduce them to 5 for 2, one down Khalid contributed 26 in 25 balls with 2 fours while Ijaz smashed the match winning 51 in 30 balls studded with 8 hits to the fence. Nadeem made 10, Intikhab 11 and Saddam Saleh 12 not out. Owais and Naseer had 2 wkts each against their names.

Match # 44: AWCC won the toss to bat first against Landmark Arabia to get to 135 for 5 in the allotted 18 overs on Ground # 8. Asif hammered 51 in 33 balls with the help of 2 sixes and 4 fours, Muzafir 17, Arsalan 16, Tahir 13 and Naveed 11.

Landmark Arabia in reply was bowled out for 134 to lose the encounter by a solitary run. Afreed hit 41 in 28 balls with 3 fours and a six, Faizan 28 in 16 balls with 2 fours, Sarfaraz 25 in 22 balls and Bitu 14. Tahir was the most successful bowler with 4 wkts for 37 whereas Irfan and Attaullah took 2 each.

Match # 45: Young Strikers opting to bat first on winning the toss against Super CC plundered 223 for 6 in allotted 18 overs on Ground # 2. Sibtain Ali blasted 108 in 50 balls studded with 17 fours, his first fifty came in 21 balls, his hundred in 46 balls, he first added 77 in 34 balls for the 5th wkt with Shahid Latif who made 33 in 16 balls with 6 fours and then 75 in 35 balls for the 6th wkt with Fiaz Ahmed who remained unbeaten on 37 off 17 balls with 6 fours. Earlier Young Striker started shakily with 3 down for 38 and 67 for 4 as Mohammed Amjed made 24 with 5 hits to the ropes. Usman took 2 wkts.

Super CC depleted side with just 7 Players among their ranks crashed for just 53 for 6 within 10 overs to lose the match by huge 170 runs. Abid Naseer was the pick of the bowlers with 4 wkts for 28 in his 4 overs. Moosa hit 22 in 14 balls with 3 fours and Anees 18 not out with 3 boundaries.

Match # 46: Apex Freight was asked to bat first by the opponents Markhour XI was bundled out for 127 within the allotted 18 overs on Ground # 1. Sulaiman stroked 30 in 17 balls with 5 fours, Ahmed Mugheri 22 in 16 balls, Saeed was run out for 22 off 20 balls and Asif 10. Shams and Aslam had 2 wkts each.

Markhour XI then reached the victory target of 132 for no loss in 63 balls to win by all ten-wicket with 45 balls to remain at the end. Farhan blasted an unbeaten 83 in just 36 balls studded with 3 sixes and 13 fours whereas his illustrious partner Jibran remained unbeaten on 32 off 25 balls with 4 boundaries.

Match # 47: Transparent Mask opted to bat first managed 143 for 4 in allotted 18 overs against Al Saudi XI on Ground # 4. Altaf Hussain was the top scorer with an unbeaten 61 in 41 balls studded with 2 sixes and 3 fours as he added 65 runs in 38 balls for the unbroken 5th wkt with Shahrukh Ali who remained not out on 23 off 14 balls with 4 fours. From the top order, Ghulam Gouse made 20, Saad Malik 11 and Mohammed Saeed 24 in 18 balls with 3 fours.

Al Saudi XI chasing 145 for 2 reached in 87 balls thanks to a scintillating ton by veteran Kashif Shafeeq who hammered an unbeaten 118 in 51 balls with the help of 2 sixes and 20 fours as his first fifty took 22 balls and his hundred 46 balls. He added a match-winning 110 in 62 balls for the unbroken 3rd wkt with Mazhar who remained 13 not out in 23 balls.

Match # 48: Black Hawks deciding to bat first piled up 153 for 5 in the allotted 18 overs against AEC on Ground # 5. Skipper Rehan emerged top scorer with 59 in 39 balls with 7 fours, Amir 39 in 24 balls with 2 sixes and a four, Asghar 19, Anas 13 not out and Atif 10. Sajid and Abdulrehman Patel had 2 scalps each.

AEC in reply was bowled out for 139 within the stipulated 18 overs to lose by 15 runs. None from the top order could sustain long enough as Awais scored unbeaten 25, Sajid 23 and Amanat 18 to lose. Shary grabbed 3 for 34 and Anas 2.
